What Is Neurofeedback?

An introduction to ILF and Micro Current neurofeedback — how this gentle, non-invasive approach works, what it can help with, and who it may be a fit for.

Neurofeedback is a gentle, non-invasive way of helping the brain regulate itself. Rather than treating a single symptom, it supports the nervous system's own ability to find balance — which is why people use it alongside therapy for a wide range of concerns.

At Rising Minds, we offer two FDA-approved types. ILF (Infra-low Frequency) Neurofeedback targets very slow brainwave patterns and has been used to support millions of people worldwide. Micro Current Neurofeedback (also called LENS or MCN) delivers a tiny signal that encourages the brain to self-regulate, and often produces noticeable results more quickly than other forms.

It's important to understand what neurofeedback is and isn't: it doesn't heal or cure any illness, disease, or condition. Instead, it helps calm the nervous system and improve neuro-regulation so the brain is better able to heal itself.

People come to neurofeedback for help with depression, anxiety, mood swings, PTSD and trauma, traumatic brain injury, post-concussion symptoms, ADHD, autism spectrum concerns, and sensory processing challenges. In a typical session, sensors read your brain's activity while the system provides feedback that gently encourages healthier patterns over time.
